Taiz University

Taiz University was established in 1993 to serve the metropolitan and regional higher education needs of the area.  With total enrollment just under 30,000 students and over 500 academic staff, Taiz University ranks as Yemen’s third largest university.

After rapid expansion in the years since establishment, following adoption of the National Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in 2006, the university was designated to become the country’s primary Technology university in the Ministry of Higher Education’s “Plan to Restructure Yemen’s Universities”.  Since endorsement of the plan by the government and the University, the university has developed a strategic development plan which will guide the university’s development of its capacity and programs to develop into the nation’s primary research institution in the areas of Science, Engineering and Technology.
